Open Positions

Responsible for operating one or more saws to cut stone block or slabs and applying finishing techniques to natural stone according to work order specifications. Assists in other production tasks such as mechanically splitting stone, packaging finished products on pallets, loading and unloading trucks, producing samples, maintaining equipment, and cleaning/organizing work areas.

Must be proficient in reading shop drawings, taking measurements, performing basic math, and maintaining attention to detail. Must be able to learn and recognize various stone types and colors. Must meet physical requirements, follow safety precautions, and safely use a variety of tools and equipment.

Principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain a general knowledge and understanding of company’s procedures, quality standards, and safety precautions.
  • Position involves continuous standing, walking, and physical movement throughout the workday.
  • Acts as backup to the Supervisor when the Supervisor is not on site; helps coordinate workflow and escalates issues as needed.
  • Set up saws, safely load and position natural stone, operate saws, produce stone to specifications, and offload products.
  • Apply finishing techniques with attention to detail.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment and a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Assist the team in other production areas when needed.

Specific duties include mechanically splitting or sawing stone, manually stacking stone on pallets or in boxes, producing samples, maintaining equipment, cleaning/organizing the work areas, and more. General laborer must meet physical requirements, be hardworking, and able to follow instructions rapidly and proficiently. Must have an eye for detail to learn and recognize various stone types and colors, learn safety precautions, and use many tools. Must be able to communicate clearly and efficiently. Specific duties include bagging rock in 50lb bags, greasing equipment, changing screens, sweeping the blacktop, and cleaning/organizing the equipment and work areas. Drives dump truck to transport raw material from Kafka quarries to crushing facility or deliver product to customers within Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula. All drivers are home daily. Must be able to safely and efficiently maneuver vehicle, obeying traffic laws and safety procedures. Must be able to operate front-end loader to load your own truck, as needed. Must be careful and considerate to maintain clean and functional equipment. Must be able to work year round in all weather conditions. Ability to make minor repairs to vehicle and trailer as needed, or assist company mechanics as needed, is preferred but not required. All dump truck drivers are required to have a Class-B CDL (willing to train) and a clean driving record upon hire.

Principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining a general knowledge and understanding of Kafka Granite’s procedures and safety precautions.
  • Driving truck year round, in various weather conditions, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operating front-end loader to load material into truck.
  • Performing minor repairs and maintenance to truck, trailer, and other equipment as needed.
  • Maintaining a valid Class-B CDL license.

Must be able to safely and efficiently maneuver vehicle, obeying traffic laws and safety procedures. Must be able to operate front-end loader to load your own truck, as needed. Determines vehicle condition and identifies worn or damaged parts.   • Inspecting and maintaining a variety of diesel trucks and trailers in a timely matter.

Full-time positions available, part-time positions upon request. Monday through Friday, with additional hours if needed. Some experience required, but willing to teach those willing to learn. Must be hardworking and self-motivated. Welding and heavy equipment mechanic skills beneficial. Principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintaining a general knowledge and understanding of Kafka Granite’s procedures and safety precautions.
  • Work independently and make judgement decisions. Creative problem solving, experience-based intuition, and resourcefulness is a must.
  • Ability to analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
  • Properly and safely set up and use oxy/acetylene torch and stick/mig welder.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Lay out, position, align and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
  • Position and secure work pieces, using hoists, cranes or hand tools.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
  • Weld components in flat or vertical positions as well in confined space in both indoor shop and outdoor work areas.
  • Ability to travel between and adapt to multiple worksites including both indoor shop and outdoor work environment.

Full-time position available, part-time positions upon request. Welding and fabricating experience and/or degree is required. Must be hardworking, self-motivated, adaptable, and resourceful. Performs preventative maintenance and regular repairs on various pieces of heavy equipment including but not limited to loaders, excavators, skidsteers, bulldozers, forklifts, conveyors, and more. Will work under seasoned mechanic on site at company crushing facility, while also occasionally servicing at various local job sites.   • Repair/replace damaged parts, tires, lights and hoses
  • Troubleshooting mechanical, lighting, and electrical issues
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on trailers
  • Inspections of trailers in compliance with safety regulations
  • Assist with truck maintenance and repairs

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a service technician or trailer mechanic (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver’s license (Required)
