Natural Thin Stone Veneer Rock Panels by Norstone
Kafka Granite is the exclusive Midwest distributor of Norstone natural stone veneer rock panels. Norstone rock panels and interlocking tiles are used in a variety of stacked stone veneer applications. From traditional fireplaces and practical backsplashes to innovative water features and stunning feature walls, Norstone has a unique look and modern beauty only natural stone can deliver.
Norstone comes in four varieties: Standard Rock Panels, XL Rock Panels, Lynia Interlocking Tiles, and Aksent 3D Panels. The Standard Rock Panel is Norstone’s classic thin stone veneer staple. It is available in four colors: Ochre, Charcoal, White and Ivory, and features an innovative finger-joined corner system for seamless transitions on both internal and external corners. The XL Rock Panel was developed to meet a demand for larger-format stone panels. While these panels are still one square foot, they have less stone pieces per panel, making them popular for exterior projects where a larger stone look is desired. XL is available in the same classic Norstone colors as the Standard Panels, and also has corner systems available.
For an even more modern and contemporary design, Norstone has introduced Lynia Interlocking Tiles. Available in Ash Gray and Ebony, these tiles easily come together for a seamless feature wall, backsplash, water feature, or other interior or exterior project. These same precision-cut blocks of lava are also hand-crafted into interlocking panels with absolute and exacting standards for an easier installation. With lines so clean, precision so exact, Norstone’s new Aksent 3D Stone Panels deliver a next-level contemporary look.

Norstone’s Advanced Corner System
Corners are extremely important in any project, which is why Norstone prides itself on its innovation of the only two-part, finger-jointed corner system in the world. The inter-woven fingers deliver the most seamless look possible while our two-piece system upholds our promise of a hassle free installation. One section is longer than the other to allow an offset pattern to continue around the corner along the adjacent walls. Because they require little skill and time on the part of the contractors fixing our stone paneling to a wall, they significantly reduce onsite labor costs, especially when compared to the time and skill involved in cutting and forming mitred corners.

What are Norstone Standard Rock Panels?
Nortsone’s Standard Rock Panel is a natural stone veneer cladding system. What does that mean? It means that natural rocks come in preassembled one-square-foot panels, 24” wide and 6” tall, which makes natural stone easy to install as a veneer over an existing surface. Instead of configuring your own patterns and trying to piece together a natural stone rock piece by piece, Norstone has made achieving this look as easy as possible. The rocks that comprise each panel vary in thickness from ¾” to 1 ¾”, which means that your Norstone Rock Panel feature will look even more natural with the beauty of staggered stones.
Where can I use standard rock panels?
These cleverly designed and beautiful rock panels are perfect for use indoors and out. Whether you want to use Standard Rock Panels for a feature wall or to surround pools, courtyards, entertainment areas, fireplaces, bathrooms, backsplashes, water features and more, they’ll add a level of natural character and good design to any area you can imagine. These panels are ideal for both small- and large-scale applications.
What colors are standard rock panels available in?
Norstone’s Standard Rock Panels are available in white, ivory, charcoal and ochre (varying shades of browns and grays together) to go perfectly with any design you have in mind. Whether you’re pairing these natural stone veneers with stainless steel or warm wood accents, they can add to designs from contemporary to classic.
How do you install Norstone Standard Rock Panels?
Norstone’s Standard Rock Panels are specially designed to install in the easiest way possible. From interlocking panels to ingenious corners, Norstone is the only two-part finger-jointed corner system in the world, which directly translates to easy installation and a seamless look.
You can install rock panels over prepared cementitious surfaces such as cement board, brick, block, or traditional lathe and scratch coat using thinset. Whoever is installing your Norstone system can simply butt panels together and not have to worry about grouting seams between stones. Once fully installed, simply apply an optional sealer and enjoy.
What are Norstone XL Rock Panels?
Much like Norstone’s Standard Rock Panels, the XL Rock Panels are part of a rock veneer panel system made up of larger individual stones. The rocks used to make these panels are roughly twice the size of the stones used for standard rock panels, but they offer the same dry-stacked natural stone aesthetic. These XL Rock Panels come in one-square-foot panels that are 24” wide and 6” tall with stones that vary in thickness from ¾” to 1 ¾”.

How do you install Norstone XL Rock Panels?
Like all of Norstone’s products, each panel is ingeniously designed to seamlessly interlock with neighboring panels and corner joints. These are designed to be installed easily by nearly anybody—contractor or homeowner. We suggest using a tile wet saw to cut any panels to size before laying them over a prepared surface with thinset. Since the edges of each panel butt against the others, there’s no need for grouting afterwards — and sealing is optional!
What are Norstone Lynia Interlocking Panels?
Norstone’s Lynia IL Tiles are panels made up of strips of basaltic lava rock. These tiles start life as large slabs of lava rock that are cooled and mechanically honed into individual strips. The precisely cut strips of varying sizes are then mesh-mounted into panels that are 15” tall and 17” wide—or nine staggered 12” basalt strips. These perfectly colored natural basalt tiles are perfect for a modern look.
Where can I use Lynia Interlocking Panels?
These panels are the result of the rapid cooling of basalt magmas and lavas at or near the earth’s surface and their resulting extrusive igneous rock. Since basalt has spent millions of years outside, it only makes sense that these tile panels are ready to use for indoor and outdoor applications. Think inside—backsplashes, shower enclosures, kitchens and fireplaces—to outside—feature walls, signage, water features. Use this product anywhere you desire the smooth, streamlined look of these Lynia IL Tiles.
What colors are Lynia Interlocking Panels available in?
Our natural basalt stone panels are available in ash grey and ebony. If you’d like samples of each to see which color will complement your project best, get in touch today! Grey is undoubtedly a classic color for design and has seen somewhat of a renaissance in popularity over the past few years. Both shades can be used to fulfill your modern aesthetic or your natural setting—it all depends on your design!
How do you install Norstone Lynia Interlocking Panels?
Installation is easy enough for contractors or DIY-ers to do. Once your surface—cement board, brick, block, etc.—is prepped, you can lay a layer of polymer-modified tile thinset, then fix your tile panels to the wall. Each panel easily interlocks with its neighboring panels, and cuts, when necessary, should be made using a tile wet saw.
Once your Lynia IL Panels are in place and have set, use unsanded grout over the entire project and a natural stone sealer after that has set. A natural stone sealer will help your basalt stone tiles resist oil, dirt and other contaminants.
What are Norstone Aksent 3D Panels?
Made from the same natural basalt as Norstone’s Lynia IL Tiles, these 3D panels add an extra dimension to this modern and sleek look. These panels are hand-assembled and made up of precision-cut blocks of Basalt stone. Instead of a flat tile panel that appears two-dimensional, these panels are made using stepped basalt tiles so some appear sunken and some appear raised. Aksent 3D Panels are available in portions that are 24” wide and 6” tall, meaning quick and easy installation.
Where can I use Aksent 3D Panels?
The three-dimensional characteristic of these tiles will add a layer of visual interest that would be hard to achieve otherwise. Our basalt tiles are ideal for use both indoors and outdoors. Consider spicing up your pool, spa, water fountain, feature wall, fireplace, backsplash or anywhere you can imagine. Both colors will add a modernity to any space while also adding an organic feel that only natural stone can deliver.

How do you install Norstone Aksent 3D Panels?
The new Aksent 3D Panels marry the modern look of Norstone’s Lynia IL Tiles with the seamless installation of Norstone’s Standard Rock panels for the easiest installation possible. Our one-of-a-kind two-part finger-jointed corner system will save contractors or DIY-ers a substantial amount of time by eliminating the need to miter corner joints. Each panel is designed to seamlessly interlock with panels surrounding it, meaning you don’t have to worry about meticulously lining up individual basalt tiles. What’s more is that there is no need to grout the tiles once they’re laid over a polymer-modified thinset.
However, in order to preserve the natural beauty and lifespan of these basalt tiles, you must use a water-based penetrating natural stone sealer to fully complete your project. A sealer will help deter oils, stains or other contaminants from deteriorating the smooth finished of your project.
